Toxicological Evaluations
Horizon reviewed the available toxicity literature for a site-specific chemical and used the U.S. EPA Benchmark Dose Software (BMDS) to calculate carcinogenic slope factors and non-carcinogenic reference doses which were then used to calculate cleanup criteria for the site-specific chemical which had no previous cleanup criteria. The benchmark dose approach represents the current best practice for setting standards for human health effects.
