Critical Evaluation of Technologies

When a preferred technology is not obvious as an engineered solution, Horizon’s engineers will complete a critical evaluation of potentially applicable technologies to establish the appropriate technology for use in an application. Our critical evaluations of technologies are performed with specific focus not only on the traditional elements of effectiveness, ability to implement and cost, but also acknowledge client-specific requirements such as consistency with ongoing operations as well as intangibles, such as the ramifications of regulatory change. The results of such evaluations are clearly presented in concise reports or memoranda, which are used by our clients to move forward with subsequent stages of engineering design and construction.

Where necessary in response to applicable regulatory requirements, our evaluations of technologies may take the form of Feasibility Studies pursuant to the requirements of Part 201 of Michigan’s Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Act (“NREPA”), Corrective Measures Studies pursuant to the requirements of Part 111 of NREPA and RCRA, or Feasibility Studies conducted pursuant to CERCLA requirements.
