Industrial Ventilation & Emissions Control

Horizon engineers have performed a variety of activities for client facilities encompassing testing, evaluation, design, and installation of both industrial ventilation systems, and process emission or room air capture and pollution control systems. These activities were initiated in response to concerns regarding the airborne emissions from a facility, either due to an internal client effort to reduce emissions, or in response to enforcement activities by the regulatory community. Types of air emissions mitigated include volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate material (PM), fugitive dust, and nuisance odors.

Horizon typically is retained to inspect and evaluate all facets of a facility’s processing equipment and operations to determine potential emission sources and to recommend and implement emission remedies. Activities include the engineering evaluation of existing process equipment and operations, process exhaust systems, room air collection systems, emission control systems, and discharge stack design. Facility evaluations can include, but are not limited to, air flow rate and emission concentration testing, total building enclosure criteria by U.S. EPA Procedure “T” (40 CFR 52.741), and specific ventilation and emission control system inspection, testing, and evaluation. Results are utilized to identify deficiencies in equipment and/or ventilation processes, and to propose potential modifications to correct the deficiencies. Horizon provides detailed designs and installation specifications for specific process exhaust, industrial ventilation, and emission capture and control systems, conforming to the clients’ preferred equipment vendors and design requirements.
